One River North is a striking concrete building located in the Denver RiNo neighborhood, making it a new architectural icon in the city. Designed collaboratively with MAD Architects and Davis Partnership, this 17-story tall building features a sleek and modern design that will surely capture the attention of every passerby. One of the standout features of this building is the exposed cave-like facades resembling a vertical slot canyon at many levels, adding an organic element to the structure’s overall design.

004: One River North with Austin Reese, PE
Located at the intersection of 37th & Downing in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood, The Riv is a 9 story apartment building with 196 units. The building uses Epicore slabs and Infinity wall system built atop the level 3 podium.
Clara Brown Commons is one of many projects representing Jirsa Hedrick’s efforts to give back to the Denver community. The community’s vision is summarized as: “Clara Brown Commons promotes belonging for residents and neighbors by creating a safe and caring community where we can stabilize our lives, expand our economic capacity, and deepen spiritual connectedness.” Due to the project’s important efforts to aid low income residents in the area, the project won the 2023 Metro Vision Award from the Denver Regional Council of Governments.
The building is a 4-story apartment complex with approximately 60 units intended for women and transgender residents experiencing homelessness.
Designed by SAR+ and Jirsa Hedrick, 3000 Huron is one of Jirsa Hedrick’s many completed concrete structures. 3000 Huron is designed for those carving their own paths and embracing thrilling experiences at every corner. With a variety of vibrant and welcoming spaces, it encourages social connections and personal exploration. The building is 14 stories tall with almost 300 apartment units and an expansive amenities deck at level 4. Just blocks away from Coors field, 3000 Huron is right in the middle of the downtown excitement.
Boasting a lounge and large outdoor terrace at the 19th floor, The Dryden is Denver’s newest addition to high-rise living in the vibrant Golden Triangle neighborhood. The building is 19 stories tall above grade with 2 levels of below grade parking, and has over 400 units with amenities including a large fitness area, multiple spas, a large swimming area and more.
A 13-story apartment building built near Coors Field, this multi-family project consists of 232 studio and 1-bedroom apartment units. It is envisioned as a vibrant community, with numerous common gathering spaces and a 2-story lobby featuring a fireplace hearth.
This hybrid “aparthotel” resides in the River North District just north of downtown. It offers uniquely flexible lengths of stay from a nightly to weekly option on several floors and a monthly to yearly option on others. In addition to the hotel amenities, ‘The Red Barber’ provides rooftop dining and drinks, and weekly yoga classes are held on the in the rooftop events tent.
The new building for Judi’s House is a new and innovative structure located in the heart of Denver, CO. The main aim of this project is to provide much-needed grief therapy services to families and children who are struggling with the loss of a loved one. This building has been thoughtfully designed with the comfort and convenience of home in mind, offering visitors the opportunity to receive high-quality support in a welcoming and secure environment.
Inside the building, visitors can find a variety of spaces that cater to their particular needs. The building features spacious playrooms and group therapy rooms, which enable children to express themselves, connect with peers, and develop coping skills they need to deal with loss. Additionally, the new building includes an art room designed to inspire creative expression and provide new ways of healing.
Lastly, the building includes all the necessary employee offices, ensuring that the team at Judi’s House is always ready and equipped to provide visitors with the support they need. These offices are designed to be efficient, comfortable, and inviting, allowing the staff to work effectively and support visitors with compassion and sensitivity.
Overall, Judi’s House project is a unique and innovative solution to providing much-needed support and services to children and families. The new building is designed to be a safe harbor for those navigating through the grief process and provides a comforting and empowering environment to help individuals cope and heal.

The Synergy Medical Office Building has ample below-grade parking, providing easy access and convenience for both the medical staff and their patients. The state-of-the-art parking facility provides maximum security and ensures a seamless transition from the parking garage to the various medical offices above.
Located near Union Station, this 13-story building constructed of post-tensioned concrete features retail, below-grade parking, and 164 luxury apartments. Amenities include a rooftop terrace and pool, fitness center, and dog wash.
The University of Colorado/Denver needed to provide their first on-campus living building that enhanced the college experience for students at this urban campus. The 7-story dorm building also includes expanded meeting spaces in the 3-story Learning Center along with food services, all just steps from downtown Denver.
27J school district wanted to improve the appearance, safety and flow of the schools’ main entrance. Complex geometry and steel framing created a stunning entrance addition for students to be proud of.
Located just west of the Union Station Transit Center are two high-rise towers totaling 1,000,000 square feet. The 24-story tower provides 360-degree views of Downtown Denver to the east and the Rocky Mountains to the west and is adjacent to 17th Street Plaza and the Light Rail Plaza.
As a gateway to the West Wash Park area south of downtown Denver, this 9-story apartment building provides unparalleled views of the front range from the roof top amenities deck.
This new facility provided the opportunity for the Arvada Police Department to better serve their constituents, including their decentralized, community-based policing style.
This trio of fire stations were built for the West Metro Fire Protection District, and incorporate classic design cues of arched apparatus bay doors combined with modern architecture. Brick and masonry are used liberally throughout.
In the heart of the burgeoning RiNo district, this 5-story steel and concrete building provides modern, open Class A office space with retail and amenities on the first level.
Civica Cherry Creek provides contemporary office space complete with a rooftop amenities deck, convenient below grade parking and street level retail elements. The steel and concrete structure depth was minimized to permit high ceilings and natural light extending throughout the office spaces.
Proving that Disney World is for everyone, the nearby upscale Celebration neighborhood added a 2-story skilled nursing facility with views of the nightly fireworks from the park.
2018 Winner of ABC Excellence in Construction award for healthcare facilities in Florida. This 2-story skilled nursing facility provides 120 private rooms for residents in a resort-style atmosphere.

Furniture Row is made up of four specialized home stores (Furniture Row Living, Furniture Row Dining, Furniture Row Bedroom, and Denver Mattress), and is one of the fastest-growing furniture retailers in the country. We have designed or remodeled over 10 stores throughout the country and are able to react quickly with changing scope, materials, and field conditions for each project.
The 900 Grant Storage project created a unique design challenge in converting an existing office building into a mixed-use building that maintains storage units on the upper floor with street-facing retail and restaurant space on the ground floor. Carbon fiber technology, wrapping beams and columns, were used to provide the structural capacity to support the larger floor loads.
These exciting structures provide a modular base for a wide variety of ropes course activities. The cantilevered design provides a bracing-free aesthetic that is both entertaining and beautiful.
Helping seniors live better lives, Erickson Living has upscale communities across the nation. Jirsa Hedrick performed the structural design of the Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Memory Care facilities. Amenities included a creative arts studio, a sensory garden, salon and rehabilitation gym.
1601 Wewatta, “on the corner of history and the future” is a new LEED Certified Gold class A office building, developed by Hines. Included is a high-end plaza with outdoor dining and urban living concept, outdoor terraces on multiple levels and access to RTD Union Station. Three stories of below-grade parking and 10 stories of office structure were constructed of post-tensioned and mild reinforced concrete.
Located adjacent to the Garrison Seaport Center, Channelside Bay Plaza combines entertainment, dining, and shopping into a unique outdoor mall. The central courtyard serves as a stage for live music on the weekends; the Plaza also boasts a 16-theater movie complex on the 2nd floor. The building frame is structural steel with a total of 220,000 square feet.
This warehouse is located in Louisville, Colorado, and was built out for one specific tenant. It features unique and complex tilt-up concrete wall shapes and patterns encompassing 33,000 square feet.
This existing office building was renovated into a hotel adding a pool and below-grade parking accessed by a car elevator. Creative engineering was required to dramatically increase the value and usability of this structure.
The St. Julien is the place to stay in downtown Boulder. The luxury four-story hotel has restaurants and ballrooms which are frequently used for private and community events. A unique transfer structure over the ballrooms allowed three stories of guestrooms above the ballrooms while staying under the strict city height limit.
Mission Hills Church is a tilt-up concrete wall and steel-framed church south of Denver. The roof for the 1,700 seat sanctuary spans 168 feet and is surrounded by two and three-story classroom spaces. The unique tilt-up concrete basement walls with counterforts allow for a walk-out condition on the south side.
This museum is open and busy nearly every day of the year, and it desperately needed additional parking that didn’t compromise the surrounding area. The two-level below-grade garage was completed in a very short time frame, and if not for the signage directing the user to the entrance you wouldn’t even know it was there. Cast-in-place concrete long-span structure keeps the garage open and comfortable for the museum guests.
Transitioning from an aging metal building, this vibrant Denver area church expanded to a state-of-the-art 2600 seat worship space with 22,000 square feet of classroom space. The steel structure is clad with brick, stone, and glass with curved walls and a 150′ long water feature.
With concrete precast walls and steel roof framing, this suburban Denver church provides a large open space with lots of light from floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby. The roof features a 45-foot cantilever that ends at a point.
“Come as you are” is the motto for Cherry Hills Community Church. The church has over 6000 members and houses preschool, elementary and middle schools within the facility.
Jirsa Hedrick has done the foundation engineering of many rides at Elitch Gardens including the popular half-pipe coaster. We were also the structural engineer for the observation tower, the water park and various structures on the site.
Journey Church is the first of many buildings to come on this campus. This is a 2 story church with several gathering rooms, classrooms and worship space to serve the community of all ages.
This precast concrete parking garage incorporates 11,500 square feet of retail space while providing parking for 644 cars. The brick relief in the precast blends in with the neighboring historic Gates building. The choice of using precast was evident during construction when the entire structure was erected in just 31 working days.
This new steel-framed church boasts a high-bay sanctuary with a balcony and classroom space for a growing congregation. A large glass lobby opens to an outdoor patio featuring a beautifully painted steel trellis, which compliments the painted steel sunshade accents on the exterior.
An exclusive Golf and Country Club located east of Aurora with outstanding views of the Rocky Mountains to the west. This two-story, 35,000 square foot, English Tudor-inspired clubhouse is an award-winning building that provides its members an impressive gathering place for friends and family.
Located adjacent to a light rail station, the Dave and Buster’s and movie theater development is an entertainment hub. The parking garage is a unique hybrid precast and cast-in-place concrete structure.
Consisting of two 7-story buildings, the 55-unit condominium project wraps around the south and west sides of the museum’s new 980-car parking garage. A pedestrian promenade, Martin Plaza, is all that separates the residences’ flowing glass exterior from the museum’s new wing.
The Denver Zoo is one of the top tourist attractions in the city and it was very short on parking. The two-story below-grade parking garage greatly enhanced the visitor experience with convenient and attractive parking, which welcomes the visitor into the zoo. The long-span concrete post-tensioned structure provides openness, visibility and enhances safety for the user.
A five-level precast parking garage to service the new Colorado History Museum and the Ralph L Carr Colorado Judicial Center in downtown Denver. The garage is located between the Colorado History Museum and an existing building which led to creative solutions for multiple foundation challenges.
This 5-story garage provides much-needed parking for Denver’s RiNo neighborhood and is the perfect complement to the new office building to the west. There is a 2-story bridge spanning the alley connecting the two structures.
1515 Wynkoop is a premier eight-story 307,000 SF office building with 420 below-grade parking spaces located in the heart of Denver’s lower downtown neighborhood. The project was certified LEED Gold and is constructed of composite steel and post-tensioned concrete.
Union Station North is a LEED Certified Gold project and an anchor building for the Union Station complex redevelopment in Lower Downtown Denver. It is a 5-story concrete-framed office building above 3 levels of below-grade parking. The unique, shallow, one-way post-tensioned slab and beam system allow for column-free office space throughout. Another unique feature is the integrated exterior grand stair and elevator which brings passengers up to the train mezzanine walkway which serves the adjacent Union Station train platform.
1755 Blake is an infill project replacing a parking lot at the heart of the historic district. The office building consists of a five-story contemporary office building with multiple levels of below-grade parking. The class A building is certified as LEED Silver.
The Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News, both with over 100 years of history, needed an up-to-date and central headquarters. The site, right across from Civic Center Park and the capitol building provided the perfect location. The steel and precast concrete structure provided long clear spans and open office areas for maximizing the utilization of the space.
This LEED certified Silver project is located in the heart of Cherry Creek North, the most expensive location for office space in Denver. Four levels of below-grade parking support three levels of retail space, Class A office, and rooftop terraces.
Denver Christian Schools is a great example of re-purposing an existing industrial training facility into a Pre-K–12 combined campus. Structural work included adding 2 competition gymnasiums, seismic upgrades throughout the existing structure, and the elimination of 6,500 sf of the existing floor by way of external steel trusses to support the existing roof to create a two-story-tall internal auditorium.
777 Emerson Lofts is a modern loft community built with an emphasis on individuality and green living in one of Denver’s most charming neighborhoods. Construction is wood with a mild reinforced concrete podium slab.
Jefferson County Workforce is a center to connect job seekers to various companies. It is a two-story pre-cast concrete structure with a full basement. Foundations were challenging due to the dipping bedrock in the area.
This building along with the public library make up the Civic Center for the Town of Longmont. The Safety and Justice Center houses courtrooms, judicial offices, police, and fire departments. They are committed to working in partnership with their citizens to create and preserve exceptional public safety.
Adams County consolidated all county office’s into one central campus including a 5 story office tower. The design goal of the campus was to create a sense of openness and accessibility for all employees and citizens, a walkable complex easy to navigate, and a sustainable environment. The campus is 330,000 SF and the structure is composite steel and bar joists.
The City and County of Denver wanted an open and airy new building for their clients in the Clayton neighborhood. This two-story, 54,000 square foot structure incorporates large expanses of glass on the southern atrium to connect the inside space with the outside environment. Large overhangs shield this glass from unwanted solar gains while the underfloor air distribution system allows for individual temperature controls.
The City and County of Denver has selected us to be a part of their on-call structural services team. Several projects including Red Rocks mezzanine structures, fire station repairs, and electric vehicle charging stations have been completed as part of this contract.
Located next to the Belleview light rail station, this 6-story apartment building wraps around a 6-story parking garage and features a unique courtyard inside of the east retail spaces. The amenity deck sits atop the parking garage and features a pool, a large clubroom, and stunning views of the front range.
This 13-story apartment located at the busy intersection of Evans Avenue and University Boulevard across from the University of Denver is just what the university needed to accommodate its growing enrollment. It provides a unique amenity deck on Level 5 with a pool, fitness room, and gathering space.

Nestled in the historic Capitol Hill Neighborhood, this 8-story apartment building brings the needed underground parking and roof top amenities that are missing from most of its vintage neighbors.
Magnolia Ridge Rehabilitation Center, located in Gainesville Fl, provides various rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy in an upscale environment.
Littleton Public Schools are investing resources in their student’s health. Kitchens were upgraded in several schools to better serve the student population.
This speculative warehouse was built for future flexibility that could include adding a mezzanine level. CMU and steel bar joists were used for construction.
The growing Steamboat school district needed additions for six of its schools. Steel framed 1- and 2- story additions were integrated with the existing buildings to provide seamless extensions to the existing schools.
One of the first casinos in Blackhawk, the cast-in-place structure has been updated and modified several times to keep up with gaming preferences. The classic mountain architecture fits beautifully into the town’s history and character.
This charter school needed a gymnasium and expanded classroom space for their growing enrollment. A steel framed building provided a durable, cost-effective solution.
Marriott Residence Inn rises 14 stories above 18th & Champa Streets. It is comprised of 9 floors of hotel suites above 4 levels of parking, atop the lobby level. It is a post-tensioned concrete frame building, with concrete cores used as lateral-resisting elements. Special slab-to-core wall connection detailing helped in virtually eliminating any restraint cracking.
Located in California near a fault in seismic design category F (the highest category in the IBC), this wood framed hotel had challenging diaphragm detailing.
The Omni utilized a structural first floor and deep foundation to mitigate issues associated with expansive soils, and married the flat plate hotel structure with the steel-framed conference center. The tower cladding was all panelized to facilitate schedule and quality.
As the structural engineer for Denver Academy High School, Jirsa Hedrick completed the retrofit and remodeling of the existing campus. Denver Academy is dedicated to teaching students with unique learning profiles. The campus houses about 450 students.
Under construction, this project is a 3-story, wood framed, dual brand hotel. An outdoor pool is located in the rear of the hotel to let guests cool off in the Arizona sun.
This 65-acre Overland Park, Kansas campus provides memory care and skilled nursing facilities to support the independent living community also residing on campus.
A growing independent senior living campus located in Matthews, NC. The buildings constructed to date include multiple five-story wood framed apartment buildings, a care center, and various ancillary buildings.
A two-story wood-framed senior care facility located in seismically active Pleasanton, CA. Steel moment frames and wood shear walls were used in combination to provide an economic design, while still providing open amenity spaces.
5 story independent senior living apartments. These buildings were framed with CMU and hollow core concrete plank to provide an economical system for the cold climate of Novi, MI.
This community designed for gracious aging is located on a breathtaking 14-acre site in Boulder at the base of Mount Sanitas. The campus has dozens of structures that include independent living, assisted living, short-term rehab, and memory care. The site has a 100-foot grade differential across it creating challenging structural conditions.
The expansion of the original 1958 Hill Hall structure which included a new lobby, new classrooms, and a new enclosed roof-top mechanical plant was no easy task, requiring existing columns and foundations to be reinforced. The framing system was structural steel.

Under construction, this one-story modern facility is critical to help veterans recover from their combat experiences. This blast-resistant building includes dozens of counseling offices as well as group areas and offices.
Metropolitan State University created a working hotel on their campus as a part of their hospitality education program, providing students a real world working and learning environment. The building joined a cast-in-place concrete hotel with a structural steel educational wing wrapped around a central courtyard.
When constructed, the Xcel building was the first Denver office tower in over 20 years. The composite steel and concrete structure has a striking pattern of exterior cladding that makes it a downtown Denver landmark. This building was the first LEED platinum certified building west of the Mississippi.
Located in the mainstream location of the Lone Tree Colorado Town Center, MorningStar at RidgeGate is a six-story full continuum Senior Living Project. The program includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care along with a full complement of amenity spaces including an indoor aquatic center.
